Lom-Pangar Dam: SICIM will carry out the pipeline's adaptation work

SICIM, the Italian company has been selected to carry out the works scheduled to adapt the Chad-Cameroon pipeline to the Lom-Pangar Dam project.

The contract, which commits the company to commence the said works, was signed on 3 April, between its authorized representative and the manager of COTCO, Cameroon Oil Transportation Company, the company constituted under American law responsible for managing the pipeline in Cameroonian territory.

According to the technical explanations given by COTCO General Manager, Christian Lenoble, the said adaptation works will consist in «strengthening two pipeline sections of 13 kilometres to ensure that it supports the water columns of more than 20 metres which will be installed here at the completion of the dam». All this confirms that the initial pipeline route along the Lom-Pangar project site will be modified.

According to the SICIM work schedule, works, essentially engineering work, will kick off in the next few days. The reconnaissance work, the initial surveys and sampling on the site are also scheduled for April and May 2012. The project, which will be completed before the delivery of the dam, will cost about 3 billion CFA F.
SICIM is an Italian company set up in 1962. It is headed by Leonardo Gravina and is present in 10 countries in South America, Central America, Europe, Central Asia and Africa, notably Angola, Congo Brazzaville and now Cameroon.
