Sunjo George was commissioned to ensure harmonious growth, check teachers who abandon classrooms for greener pastures.
The governor of the North West Region, Abakar Ahamat has urged stakeholders in the Secondary Education sector to provide a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning. Governor Abakar Ahamat was speaking on February 26, 2010 while installing the new Regional Delegate for Secondary Education, Sunjo George. The seasoned educationist and refined teacher with an outstanding experience is the new man to chart the way forward for Secondary Education in the region. He is considered to be the first discipline master in the sector and is expected to turn full circle to keep records straight.

Sunjo George was thus challenged to check the activities of some unpatriotic teachers who abandon students and go for greener pastures. Governor Abakar Ahamat was quick to warn school principles who abandon schools with flimsy excuses to follow up documents for the school. He said from now hence, such attitudes will not be tolerated and cautioned that teachers be granted leave only during holidays. The governor also promised full collaboration and called on all stakeholders to do same to ensure proper education of young Cameroonians. Sunjo George is taking over in a region ranked best in academic excellence, a region where the swindling of PTA Funds is common, a region with many clandestine secondary schools, and where everybody claims to be a teacher. With all these, he has to put tact and professionalism together to end the cacophony.

He has as main function to coordinate and animate pedagogic activities in the region, follow up and programme organization of the training of teachers, issue diplomas in first cycle education as well as raise awareness on the importance of education. He also has to use resources properly and pay part time teachers. Sunjo George , the old horse, is a product of St Augustine ’s college Nso, CCAST Bambili, ENS Bambili and Yaounde and the University of Yaounde . His career as an educationist spans over 34 years. The 54-year-old was born in Kar, Jakiri Sub division in Bui.
