North West Home for 3,500 Nigerians
The North West Region is a safe destination for thousands of foreigners.
From the look of things the North West Region and Metropolitan Bamenda in particular is a safe haven for many foreigners who visit, reside and work. In effect; hospitality offered by the land of Fons has been acknowledged by many a foreigner who see the region as the place to be for their life dreams. The North West is home to many Nigerians beginning with the President of the Nigerian Union, Chief Awa David Djideofor. The Leader knows Bamenda better than his native Nigeria . Born in Bamenda 55 years ago; the businessman later got married to a Mankon wife five years ago. The North West is home to some 3,500 Nigerians most of who are involved in business.
Away from Nigerians; Chinese are flooding metropolitan Bamenda with provision and flower shops spread all over the city. Koreans are also around with a lot to offer in photo shops. Malians, Senegalese and others from Niger are spotted in hawking activities and tailoring . That apart; the North West keeps a sizeable number of Whites from Europe, North America and Asia . In all; Walter Grob from Canada says there are about 20 Canadians around involved in Bible translation while others serve as Volunteers and Rev. Sisters in the Catholic hospital in Shisong, Bui division. The Region also employs many Americans involved in Missionary and Medical work in the Mbingo and Banso Baptist hospitals. Else where; the region registers about 20 Indians. Among them are some who serve in the Ndawara Highlands Tea Estate in Boyo Division while one is a Physiotherapist at St. Louis Clinic. Others are Rev. Fathers and Sisters in the Mankon Parish of the Catholic church and another at the service of the Dutch International Organisation, SNV.
