Secondary education hierarchy urged to end confrontation between school Heads and PTAs.

The 2010/2011 academic year is effective in the North West Region with hierarchy of the Secondary education family challenged to ensure that the Region continues to excel in academic exploits. A sectoral conference to set records straight towards a hitch-free academic year prescribed the best way forward with governor Abakar Ahamat saluting the Regional Delegate and collaborators for an excellent job in 2009/2010. The gate way to stay on top according to the governor requires discipline. It was against this backdrop that governor Abakar Ahamat condemned malpractices within the school milieu like absenteeism and abandonment of classrooms by teachers who travel abroad and never return with the complicity of Heads of School establishments. He also prescribed an end to confrontations between school Heads and PTAs. The Administrator urged school Heads to check scamming by students and discourage petition writing and anonymous tracks intended to settle scores and soil the image of the education sector.

Earlier, the Regional Delegate of Secondary Education; Sunjo George revealed that excellent results produced by the Region is a true reflection of hard work which keeps the North West in the front seat as the destination for good results. He hailed parents, teachers and students for efforts that help the Region excel.“Enhancing quality management through result oriented governance and pedagogic excellence” is the theme as the 2010/2011 year rumbles off in the North West with Sunjo George prescribing the scientitific organization of work, management focused on results and the creation of conditions that produce quality management. The Delegate urged collaborators to rise to expectation and be alert because down the year regular inspection missions will cris-cross the Region to ensure the implementation of result-orientated directives. The sectoral conference dropped curtains with a message of gratitude to president Paul Biya for the creation of more Secondary General and Technical schools to enhance education in the Region. Participants also hailed the President for lifting the image of Bamenda towards the 50th anniversary of the nation’s military. It was also a rare moment to plead with President Biya to provide all season vehicles to Regional Pedagogic Inspectorates and Divisional Delegates to ease pedagogic follow-up and the need to speed up action for the Teacher’s profile to enhance quality management through result-oriented governance and pedagogic excellence.
