INJS Graduates New Batch of Trainees

The 332 graduates received their end of course diplomas in a ceremony presided at by Minister Michel Zoah on Tuesday September 21, 2010.

Some 332 students of the National Institute of Youth and Sports, INJS, received end of course certificates in a colourful ceremony at the Yaounde Sports Complex on September 21, 2010, presided at by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Michel Zoah. In a highly applauded speech, the minister instructed his collaborators to make everything possible that the laureates are integrated into the public service by October 15. “We need and we need you now,” he said.

The Minister also promised to make INJS equal to other institutions of higher learning by introducing the LMD system and establishing a career profile for teachers as well as graduates of the institution saying it is high time people should know INJS is not only a school for muscles but also of academic excellence. Reforms are underway in the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, he said and INJS has to change also, he added.

The Director of INJS, Daniel Ngoa Nguélé, said with support received from the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, his institution has been carrying out renovation work on campus, rehabilitating structures and play grounds in order to create a conducive atmosphere for learning. He said INJS is now a recognised academic institution with teachers from the school appointed to various post of responsibility within the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education. He exhorted the laureates to be winners everywhere they go saying the administration of the school is doing everything necessary to make sure the institutions wins the upcoming University Games in Dschang as well as other civilian competitions the institution is involved in.

Among the 332 graduates, 42 were senior youth and action counsellors, 56 senior teachers of sports and physical education, 50 youth and action counsellors and 83 assistant teachers of sports and physical education. Among them were four foreigners from Gabon and one from Chad. There were also officers from the police and the ministry of defence. The ceremony which was marked by pump and pageantry also saw a thrilling demonstration of sports dance.

After the official ceremony, family members ran behind loved ones offering hugs, flowers and kisses. The celebration continued in the quarters with winning and dinning. Prominent among those present were the minister of Women Empowerment and Family, Abena Ondoa Née Obama Marie, the president of the National Olympic Committee, Colonel Kalkaba Malboum, the Governor of the Centre Region, Roger Moise Eyene Nlom and a host of other dignitaries.
