Kumba: SDO Warns Unscrupulous Businessmen

Meme SDO Koulbout Aman David has cautioned businessmen in Kumba about the non-respect of the law, saying that any defaulter will be severely punished.

The Senior Divisional Officer for Meme, Koulbout Aman David, has cautioned building material dealers to ensure they buy and sell only quality building materials. He made the statement recently during his second phase of contact visit to some thirty five private sectors in Kumba.

Koulbout Aman reminded them of the problems many people face when they construct with poor quality materials. “You find houses collapsing or the walls cracking,” he said.

To cocoa dealers who complain of high taxes and bad roads especially farm to market roads, the SDO said he will soon be holding a meeting with the Mayors of the areas where these cocoa dealers are involved. He said possible solutions will be envisaged to reduce their taxes as well as the maintenance of the roads.

The Meme administrator urged the cocoa dealers to maintain their buying agreement rates per kilo of cocoa and continue to assist these farmers financially as some of them do. In some health institutions visited, the SDO appreciated their level of cleanliness and asked them not to desist from that. He called on the proprietors to employ qualified doctors and nurses to take care of patients. However, he warned against clandestine health units in Kumba. He cautioned that if a doctor cannot handle a case, he should immediately refer the patient to a qualified unit or to a specialist.

He warned all directors and managers of the private sector about the consequences of non-respect of the law in force. These businessmen were also urged to pay their taxes promptly in order to avoid harassment. After listening to their problems, the SDO promised them his total collaboration; adding that the doors of his office remain widely open for suggestions. “Let’s all join hands on deck to fight the mounting crime wave in Kumba,” he reiterated.
