Bamenda III Council cheer positive progress report

Mayor, Fongu Cletus encourage Councilors to face challenges of decentralization.

Development is on course in the Bamenda III Sub Divisional Council some six months after the death of their pioneer Mayor, Prince Pius Ngwa Amandou remembered by all for dynamism, hard work and laudable development initiatives.

In effect, his Successor, Fongu Cletus Tanwe is turning full circle to keep the dreams of the Council area alive in progress and development. Late Pius Ngwa Amandou went to the world beyond on April 14, 2010 but not without living a spirit that inspires a better way forward for the community of Bamenda III inhabitants. A midway evaluation of the Council’s projects on September 24,2010 emerged with encouraging results. From the look of things, the Council is on track in the commitment to complete the late Mayor’s efforts to make Bamenda III a most developed place. In all, Councilors saluted extra efforts by the new Mayor, Fongu Cletus to make his mark with projects that speak.

Setting the tone for the evaluation session at the Nkwen Fon’s palace, Fongu Cletus urged Councilors to rise to expectation and prepare to collaborate with the Chinese Car Assembly Plant expected in the Council area soon. The project comes to improve on the economy and standards of inhabitants in an area where industries are absent. It also emerged from the Mayor that the Council is about to award some 51 scholarships to pupils with Nkwen elite in the diaspora to thank for the offer.

Team work is the password at the Bamenda III Council where Fongu Cletus has challenged Councilors to prepare to face challenges of the decentralization process which is irreversibly on course. The way forward before the year 2010 runs out for the Council area according the Mayor include the intensification of sanitary inspections. Councilors have been urged to sensitize the population on the issue and to ensure effectiveness, a Council Constituency Program has been adopted. The Council session also hailed the Minister of Secondary Education for creating GBSS Bayelle and advised parents to give their children a chance in education by massively enrolling into the facility. An agro-pastoral show has also been scheduled for December 2010 where Bamenda III farmers are expected to showcase their weight with exhibits.

It also emerged from the evaluation meeting that the Council has completed studies to extend electricity to Ntelah, Nyenegang and Namoh quarters. Studies for the construction of the Ntamuche water catchment has also been completed while work on the Namoh bridge is expected to take off in October 2010. FEICOM loans endorsed by the Council session are expected to take projects forward especially the opening up of more road works and the box culvert linking the Council Service Centre and the construction of the said Service Centre. The inception of the Bamenda III Council on the strength of a Presidential decree recently was greeted by inhabitants in the neighbourhood as a welcome initiative that takes administration and development to the doorsteps of citizens. The Council area covers the villages of Nkwen and Njah.
