Pupils, students Receive Les Brasseries Scholarship Awards

Some FCFA 70 million was distributed last Saturday as scholarships to meritorious pupils and students during an award ceremony in Douala.

Some 300 outstanding pupils and students in last year’s public examinations throughout Cameroon received symbolic cheques from the country's brewery, Societé Anonyme des Brasseries du Cameroun, Saturday, September 25 at a ceremony to honour the laureates at Castel Hall Bonapriso, Douala. The FCFA70 million was distributed as financial aid to the laureates and three new computers to each of the academic institutions with best performances. The students distinguished themselves, positively, at the 2009 FSLC, CEP, GCE O/L, BEPC, CAP, and GCE A/L, BAC and BT Examinations.

The ceremony took place under the supervision of the Secretary General of in the Ministry of Secondary Education, the Governor of the Littoral Region and many education officials, traditional leaders and business persons, and the Chief of Service for Communications at Les Brasseries du Cameroun, among other personalities of the Company. The scholarships were offered to the seven best pupils and students at the national level in all the exams. Amongst the brilliant students and pupils, is 17-year-old Emani Kuenou of PI&JU Anglosaxon College, Biteng Yaounde, who scored 25 points at the 2009 GCE: "my success is based on hard work and I think that any other serious student can make it and even better.” Most of the laureates have enrolled in higher institutions to further their learning.
