Le ministre délégué à la présidence chargé de la Défense a effectué une visite de travail à Ebolowa ce 14 octobre.

Arrivé à bord de l’Hélicoptère delta 112 du Bataillon d’intervention rapide (BIR), le ministre délégué à la présidence chargé de la Défense, Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o, s’est d’abord rendu au chantier de construction du complexe composé de l’hôtel des généraux et d’une résidence ministérielle. Le Mindef s’est ensuite rendu à la légion de gendarmerie du Sud, au secteur de santé militaire, au 71^ème Bataillon d’infanterie motorisée (BIM), au 11^ème bataillon de commandement et de soutien et au 7^ème secteur militaire terrestre.

Le Mindef a exprimé sa satisfaction par rapport à l’évolution des principaux chantiers de son département ministériel qui sont en avance de 17 jours par rapport aux prévisions.

Partout ou il est passé, le Mindef a insisté sur la propreté des structures et des troupes. Au 11^ème bataillon de commandement et de soutien, le Mindef a constaté que les soutes rénovées sont prêtes à servir pendant le comice agropastoral. Le Mindef a noté que sa visite d’inspection est certes liée aux préparatifs comice agropastoral, mais il s’agit aussi d’une occasion d’apprécier le moral des troupes en vue des préparatifs du cinquantenaire des armées dont la date sera bientôt annoncée. Edgar Alain Mebengo’o a remercié le gouverneur de la région du Sud pour les facilités accordées au ministère de la Défense en vue des préparatifs du comice. Il a promis de revenir à Ebolowa chaque semaine pour suivre de près l’évolution des chantiers de son département ministériel. Le Mindef a relevé que le comice agro-pastoral est une occasion de communion entre le haut commandement et le peuple. Il a souhaité que les forces de défense participent avec éclat à ce rendez-vous autour du gouverneur de la région du Sud auprès duquel ils sont placés pour emploi.

Le Mindef était notamment accompagné du Chef d’état major des armées, le général de division René Claude Meka, du Commandant de la 1^ère région militaire, le général de division Benoit Asso Emane et du Directeur central de la coordination à la gendarmerie nationale, le général de division Roland Mambou Defo.

Bamenda: Defence Minister Assesses Projects

Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o encouraged workers to speed up work as the D-day approaches.

Ever since the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, announced that the 50^th anniversary of the military will be celebrated in Bamenda this 2010, the military has been multiplying strategies to ensure that all is well. The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o, was in Bamenda on October 13, 2010 to see the level of work done so far so as to know the next step to take. Minister Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o accompanied by some Generals landed at the Bamenda air port to see for themselves if the airport was safe and if the air strip was of required standard. After visiting some structures of the airport, the Minister took off time to visit the various work point. Accompanied by the Secretary General to the North West Governor’s office, Ebune Confiance Balungeli and the SDO for Mezam, Marche Njounwet Bertrand, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o visited the various wells constructed by the military along Mbengwi road and Tubah. The wells are in line with the function of the military to provide some basic necessities to the communities. The Minister further went to the Bali airport, Commercial Avenue grand stand, monuments of the dead amongst others where serious construction works are going on. On hand at each point, the Minister was enlightened on what has been done and what was left to be done. Visibly satisfied, the Minister and his delegation took off from the Bamenda airport around 3pm for Yaoundé.

As the D-day approaches inhabitants of Bamenda could not hide their joy as per the changing face of their town, each day they see new and modern structures coming up.
