The ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) has set out on the process to intensify the enrolment of its members, supporters of President Paul Biya and the New Deal into the electoral register so as to ensure a landslide victory of the party’s candidate in the 2011 presidential election. The Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee, René Sadi in a circular last October 14, gave specifications and modalities of the campaign and in a decision on October 15 published the lists of the party committee members from the national level to that of Sections to ensure total success of the voter registration campaign.
The CPDM scribe yesterday, October 18 at the Yaounde Conference Centre had a close door meeting with officials to carry out the voter registration campaign on the field. Gathered for the meeting were Central Committee members, some members of governments, chargé de missions, heads of campaign teams and other party officials, certainly to get directives and practical modalities on the campaign. The Yaounde come together whose outcome will be the intensification of the voter registration exercise led by Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), will set the entire country on motion as the ruling party will want to improve the score of over 70 percent of the votes cast its candidate had in the 2004 presidential election.
Before yesterday’s topical meeting, René Sadi last week had consultations with each member of the CPDM political bureau, which came after similar consultations with substantive members of the Central Committee in September.
