Indomitable Lions to Regroup in France

This will be during the next FIFA period running from November 14 to 17, 2010.

Except for any last minute changes, the Indomitable Lions will regroup in France during the next FIFA period coming up from November 14 to 17, 2010. The opponents of the Indomitable Lions are not yet known and a lucrative offer from Iran was turned down by Javier Clemente saying from past experiences, Iran does not respect her word. The duty to search for a sparring partner will henceforth rely on Fecafoot since Alexandre Ribeiro’s contract will end on November 1, 2010 and will not be extended. The training camp in France is going to enable the technical staff of the national team seal the loopholes witnessed in the squad in the encounter against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The 1-1 draw obtained against D.R.Congo has created panic in the Lion’s den as officials have been making frantic moves to restore order within the squad. After summoning team coach, Javier Clemente for an evaluation meeting, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Michel Zoah, dispatched two missions to Europe. The first led by Dr Enama in the company of Cameroon’s Roving ambassador, Roger Milla, is out to broker peace to initiate the return of the so called ostracised players to the national team. The second mission to be conducted by the vice president of Fecafoot, Francis Mveng and the assistant coach of the Lions, Omam Biyick, is out to lure the promising right winger, Jean Armel Kana-Biyick to join the national team.

Consequently, many changes are expected in the squad during the training camp in France, with the return not only of the so called ostracised players, but also of forgotten players like Mbami Modeste, Eric Matoukou, Somen A Tchoyi, Patrick Amour Tignyemb, Djemba Chago and Kouemaha. Clemente turned down suggestions from some members of the technical directorate for Geremi Njitap to be summoned to solve the problem at the right flank of the squad, saying it is paradoxical for him to select such an old player at a time when they are talking of rejuvenating the squad. He rather opted for Benoit Angbwa while awaiting the arrival of Jean Armel Kana-Biyick by January. It is also said henceforth players who are not regular with their club sides or who do not play sufficiently with their clubs, will not be called up for the national selection. Javier Clemente, who just received an advanced salary of FCFA 120 million, announced that there will be a test for the detection of home-based players for the national team on December 6, 2010, in Yaounde.
