Preparations Hit-up
Preparatory meetings, choreographic display rehearsals and renovation work at the venue of the event are the order of the day.
Preparations intensify in the nation’s capital, Yaounde ahead of the football Cup of Cameroon finals expected to take place this weekend. Preparatory meetings, choreographic display rehearsals and renovation work at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium are the order of the day.
At the level of organisation, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Michel Zoah, has been multiplying preparatory meetings with the various stake holders to make sure the event takes place hitch-free. Students from Lycée Leclerc and the higher Institute of Youth and sports Yaounde, who are involved in the opening parade, on Thursday rehearsed at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium. Yesterday there was a general rehearsal of the opening ceremony at the stadium.
Meanwhile the Omnisports stadium is as busy as a bee hive with renovation work going on to give the stadium a face lift before the D-Day. The green turf on the field has been refurbished and the entire edifice is receiving a new coat of paint. Even the effigy of the Lions at the entrance to the stadium has been re-painted in golden colours. The grass surrounding the stadium has been cleared and the road leading into the stadium has equally been cleaned. According to the director of the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium, Bernard J-Phillipe Obama, says the electricity system has also been revised. The toilet facilities have equally been updated and civil engineers examined the capacity of the stadium to contain the over 40.000 man crowd that is expected to take part in the event.
To encourage a massive attendance at the stadium on the day of the final, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education has ordered the gates of the stadium to be thronged open to all who desire to attend as entry will be free. However, people are warned to be early in the field so as go through the security checks in time before the greatest football jamboree within the national territory.

La finale de la coupe du Cameroun 2010 est annoncée, le stade Amadou Ahidjou est-il prêt ?
Oui, le stade Omnisports sera fin prêt parce que nous avons pris les dispositions à l’avance pour faire le gros œuvre. Nous avons traité la pelouse qui est presque terminée. Nous avons fait l’essentiel pour l’éclairage. Les quatre pilonnes sont opérationnels et les techniciens des travaux publics sont venus voir l’état actuel du stade qui est capable de supporter environ 40.000 spectateurs. Donc de ce coté là, tout sera fin prêt. Toutes les autres équipes sont à pied d’œuvre pour faire des travaux d’embellissement, notamment la peinture. Vendredi nous allons mettre la dernière main pour la propreté générale.
Y a-t-il des consignes particulières ?
Nous demandons tout simplement à ceux qui auront des billets d’invitation d’être au stade assez tôt, de se conformer à toutes les consignes de sécurité et de pouvoir entrer au stade pour vivre ce grand événement. Le ministre de Sports et de l’Education physique, Michel Zoah, souhaite que la fête soit belle parce le président de la République qui est le premier sportif doit vibrer à l’unisson avec la grande famille sportive camerounaise et comme nous savons que les Camerounais sont accueillants, le président de la République sera très bien accueilli au stade.
Qu’en est-il de la parade culturelle?
Dès aujourd’hui, les élèves du lycée Leclerc et les étudiants de l’INJS viendront faire leurs répétitions et demain il y a la répétition générale. Nous avons pris des dispositions pour que nos techniciens interviennent après chaque séance pour réparer les dégâts sur la pelouse. Nous voulons que la fête soit belle aussi bien sur le plan sportif que sur le plan organisationnel.
Est-ce que l’entrée sera payante ?
Non, l’entrée ne sera pas payante. Le ministre a instruit le libre accès pour une grande fête. Toutefois, nous allons émettre des billets d’invitation pour tous les Camerounais qui souhaiteront assister à cette grande fête.
