FCFA 5 million was on Wednesday November 3, 2010 distributed to 46 flagbearers to feed fat their animal and fishery products.

The Centre Regional delegation of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA) has disbursed FCFA 5 million to 46 livestock breeders and fish farmers, selected to fly the Region’s flag at the December 9 – 14 national agro-pastoral show in Ebolowa. Distributing the money to the beneficiaries yesterday at the Delegation’s head office in Mvog-Betsi, Yaounde, the Regional Delegate, Théophile Daaloume, said the money is meant to assist the breeders feed their products to an encouraging level before taking them for display in Ebolowa. He said the 46 flagbearers to represent MINEPIA Centre Region constitutes 23 per cent of the 200 available places for the entire region. Except for breeders of adult pigs and species of cattle who each received FCFA 125,000 and FCFA 150,000, the rest of the flagbearers each bagged home FCFA 100,000.

Elated, one of them, Constance Owona, from the Nyong and So’o Division, who received FCFA 150,000, said the money will assist her in giving her animals a competitive shape before the Ebolowa rendezvous. The Regional Delegate prayed the recipients to make good use of the money, promising that control teams will go on the field to inspect the state of the products to be exhibited in Ebolowa. The 46 participants, selected after serious competitions at the level of the Divisions, will carry to Ebolowa 48 animal and fishery products, given that two of the flagbearers will present two products each. “The Centre Region, as concerns MINEPIA is ready for the show and we will use the one month remaining before kick off to visit the various breeding centres to be sure that what we are taking to Ebolowa is the best”, Dr Daaloume said.
