Memorable Celebrations Mark New Deal’s 28th Anniversary in Limbe

Hundreds of Fako I CPDM militants have hailed President Paul Biya for Cameroon's stability and vowed a massive vote for the 2011 Presidential elections.

The turnout on Saturday was impressive as hundreds of CPDM militants of Fako I answered present to commemorate President Paul Biya's 28th anniversary at the helm of State. Speakers who took to the rostrum lauded the achievements of the New Deal government; successes which, they said have been made possible thanks to Paul Biya's noble objectives of unity, peace and progress.

The leader of the Central Committee Delegation, Comrade Henry Njalla Quan, called on the militants to exhibit civic responsibility by registering massively in electoral registers. He said Fako I was dynamic and a 100 % vote for President Biya will again confirm the loyalty of the militants to the Party. Comrade Motanga Andrew Monjimba, CPDM Section President Fako I, did not mince words when he enumerated successes in all domains in the past 28 years. The achievements are inexhaustible be it in the political, social, economic or diplomatic fronts, he stressed. He mentioned the road network, social amenities, unity, peace and democracy as the hallmarks of President Biya whose greatest qualities are his humility, patience and steadfastness. On behalf of the militants, he called on President Biya to be their candidate in next year's Presidential elections and, like other speakers, urged for massive registrations into electoral lists.

In the same vein, the MP for Fako East who doubles as the WCPDM Section President Fako I, Comrade Lyonga Rachel Celestine nee Epoupa, was specific in her address. She pinpointed the Mutengene - Kumba road, recruitment of teachers, measures taken to empower youths and women, the peaceful resolution of the Bakassi conflict with Nigeria as some in a series of achievements easy to discern. ''Ask what you have done for the nation and let's join hands with President Biya for a better Cameroon,'' she echoed. Gwendoline Burnley, a Central Committee Member, Fako; poured praises on the New Deal government as she addressed the militants. In a voice laddened with emotion, she lauded President Biya's ''courageous leadership that has brought progress and development to the country.''

The presence of the former Prime Minister Head of Government Chief Ephraim Inoni and his wife, was hailed by CPDM militants as encouraging and a moral booster. A Solidarity March round town and cultural animation graced the event which ended without hitches.
