The executive committee of the Cameroon football federation (fecafoot), meeting in an extra ordinary session Monday November 8, 2010, maintained the decision by the disciplinary and homologation committee deducting three points fromFovu Baham for fielding a player with double identity. In a communiqué at the end of the meeting, the executive members said the homologation and disciplinary committee respected the regulations in force. The communiqué however, has a chance of appealing the decision at the international court of arbitration in sports in Lausanne, Switzerland. Conclusion, Fovu will play this season in MTN Elite Two as before the appeal case could be heard, the local championships would have started already. It is therefore dashed hopes for supporters of Fovu who had hoped for some last minute change of hearts especially after the minister of Sports and Physical Education, urged the national football governing body to re-examine Fovu’s case.
The second issue on the agenda was the commencement of the professional league in Cameroon. Here, members decided to continue reflection on the modalities of getting into force. In other football matters, Fecafoot promised the sum of FCF 5 (five) million to the Lionesses for qualifying for the semi finals of the ongoing feminine African Cup of Nations in Johannesburg -South Africa. They promised a further FCFA 10 million to the girls should they qualify for the final and 50 million in case of victory at the final. The federation also decided to offer the sum of FCFA 200 million to first division clubs and FCFA 90 million to the regional leagues. 29 of the 33 members that make up the executive committee were present at the meeting.
