For some days now users of SCTM gas are in want for the said gas which has become very rare in Douala.

The SCTM gas which is the most common because of its longevity in Cameroon is in lack in some of our cities. Customers have been moving around with their gas bottles to make a stop wherever they may find the gas. A wholesaler deposited 40 bottles to a customer at Rue Jamot in Douala in a blink of an eye the place was full with people fighting to collect their own bottles before it gets finish. The trader told CT that it is more than a week since he started requesting or demanding for more bottles of gas and the first time he is told they are finished from the factory. He said sometimes, he is told the ship which used to transport it has not yet arrived the seaport.

The trader who preferred, to be anonymous, said the wholesaler used to deposit gas bottles every week when gas was available but now he has to call several times before he can receive gas. In spite of this lack, the traders said he is obliged to sell at the rated stated by government which is FCFA 6000. He said because if they add a franc the gas bottles will be seized. In taking care of his customers, he said he used to secure bottles of gas for them in times of lack as such. Some weeks ago the Regional Delegate of Trade in the Littoral region, David Tsegui seized about 43 bottles of gas when the trader was found selling at a higher price from what the government has prescribed. The factory of SCTM gas in Bonaberi was not ready to answer to questions seeing that each year at this same period there is always shortage of gas in major towns in Cameroon.
