The British High Commissioner to Cameroon, Bharat Joshi revealed this yesterday after meeting with the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Supreme State Audit.

The British High Commissioner to Cameroon, H.E Bharat Joshi has said his country is looking for ways to give more assistance and support to the government of Cameroon to boost the fight against corruption. In line with what the country has been doing for the past years, Joshi Bharat in an audience with the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of State Audit, said the need to help Cameroon improve its financial management procedures in tackling corruption is primordial. He said the aim is not only to strengthen the crusade against corruption in the country, but to ensure that tax payers’ money is judiciously put to use. This, he added, is geared at moving the economy and country forward.

The High Commissioner noted with satisfaction efforts being made by government to put a halt to the canker worm that is holding back economic growth. He said the syndrome is not only common to Cameroon, but to the whole continent. He was however hopeful that efforts in reducing, and why not eradicate, the ill remain on track. “Where corruption is being tackled, there is fast economic growth and Africa in 30 years will outstrip Europe and Asia, the most vibrant economic powers on the planet,” he underlined.

To the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of the Supreme State Audit, Siegfried David Etame Massoma, Cameroon-Britain bilateral relations continue to grow. It was once more an occasion for both countries via the fight against corruption, to laud ties. “We are grateful to have received the High Commissioner so we can chart another way in the fight against corruption which is a major problem in the country,” the Minister stated.
