This time around, Defence Minister, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o visited all military projects. It all started at the Airport, host of the strictly Military anniversary event. He later sized up work at the Grandstand along the Bamenda Commercial Avenue where the Head of State is expected to meet the public on the second day of his outing. The ultra modern facility expected to give the city a new look is near completion. The visit also took the Minister to the “Monument of the Dead” constructed in the neighbourhood of Up Station to remember the good works of the nation’s Armed Forces at 50. The Military Guest house around the Military Barracks also welcomed the Minister who appreciated work on what many believe is the fastest construction project in the city in recent times. Work started barely a month ago and the builders have promised to hand over the keys of the multiple room structure on November 25, 2010. Away from this, the visiting Minister inspected work at different locations where troops will be stationed in Tubah, Santa and Bali Nyongha before visiting the beautiful Command Post of the 3rd Battalion of the Rapid Intervention Unit (PC3e BIR). Curtains dropped on the visit with Minister Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o inspecting rehabilitation work at the Bali Airstrip and wells graciously funded by the military to serve the inhabitants of the neighbourhoods of PSS Nkwen and Bali Market.
