Rumpi Project Budgets 6.2 Milliard For 2011

The budget will sponsor community projects in the South West Region

The sum of FCFA 6.285.140.000 will sponsor Rumpi Area Participatory Development Projects from January to June 30th 2011, when the African Development Bank (ADB) and the Cameroon government-sponsored project is expected to come to an end.

Rumpi Project steering committee during its 11th session 6th December at Chariot Hotel, Buea, adopted the budget which, according to the Rumpi Project Community Development Adviser, Mrs. Tambo, will continue to run projects. The projects include the completion of small structures-community banks, halls, health centres, water schemes, community education and action centres and feeder roads. Capacities of the grassroots will be ameliorated through workshops, seminars and exchange visits for improved production. Rumpi will continue to multiply seeds of maize, cassava cuttings and plantain suckers to supply to formers at give-away prices.

The committee agreed that deductions at source from staff owing the proceeds of planting materials should continue. A manual of procedure for collection and dissemination of planting materials, recovery and saving of proceeds in the seed fund be established for future use.

It was requested that the seed fund audit be finalized ensuring that funds already collected from front-line staff be deposited into the seed fund account. The committee ordered for the immediate start of the selection procedure for the next auditor for 2011.

Governor Koumpa Issa of the South West Region, who chaired the session, requested the strict implementation of the decisions taken in order to ensure a successful end to the project.
