MTN Elite Two: Clash of the Titans This Weekend

Apejes will be involved in a battle for leadership with CNI-UIC next Sunday.

The MTN Elite Two championship will enter the 5th day of play this weekend with CNI-UIC poised to challenge reigning league leaders, Apejes in the contention for ascension into the elite championship this year. The stakes of the encounter will be to find out whether Apejes will be able to consolidate her lead or slowed down in the process by CNI. Apejes currently tops the chart with nine points, bare one point ahead of Douala AC and Aigle of Menoua on eight points but separated by goal difference.

Four other teams; Douala AC, Aigle, AS Matelots and Tonnerre are equally engaged in the battle for leadership as teams at the top of the classification table are merely separated by two points from those in the middle. Therefore, the matches pitting Douala AC against Tonnerre and Aigle against Fovu will equally be of great interest.

While the teams at the top and the middle are fighting for leadership which is synonymous to ascension into the MTN Elite One championship, those at the bottom are fighting for survival in the Elite Two championship. They include the Benjamin of the league, Avenir who have been able to record only one point in four matches just like Roumdé Adja in the 13th position with one point but with a better goal difference. Though Mayo Rey has four points like Achille and Santos, they find themselves below the relegation line because of a minus one goal difference.

Meanwhile, in an earlier day five encounter, Njalla Quan Academy edged Mayo Rey 1-0 to send them further down the drain.
