The Speaker of Cameroon’s National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril on wednesday, December 5 called on the staff of the House to pursue and consolidate the spirit of collaboration, harmony, respect for hierarchy and cohesion that will enable the institution carry out its missions with more performance in 2011. The House Speaker was speaking at the Banquet hall of the National Assembly as he received happy and prosperous New Year 2011 wishes from the bureau members of the House and the entire staff.

Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril recommended clarity and transparency in managing financial, human and material resources. He said the National Assembly has to be an example in transparent management as laws that regulate the activities of the country are voted there. The House Speaker instructed that misappropriation and embezzlement of public funds allocated to the National Assembly, as well as all corrupt practices must stop. He recommended vigilance and abnegation to work as Cameroon faces elections challenges in 2011.

The Speaker of the National Assembly’s speech was in reaction to the balance sheet of 2010 activities and perspectives for 2011, the Secretary General of Parliament, Victor Yene Ossomba presented. Mr Yene Ossomba highlighted major actions in the management of resources that included the improvement of working framework, increasing working means and cleansing management methods.

After the speeches, bureau members of the National Assembly, members of parliament resident in Yaounde, senior officials of the National Assembly and the entire staff each shook hands with the House Speaker, wishing him a happy and prosperous New Year 2011. Other highlights of the ceremony were medals awarded to staff, gifts to those going on retirement and certificates to best workers in 2010.
