The atmosphere in the South Regional capital of Ebolowa is heavily charged with anxiety one week ahead of the Agro-pastoral Show. The population of Ebolowa and its administration has become permanent host following waves of evaluation visits from government officials and other stakeholders.
Almost every day, the town of Ebolowa is sure of welcoming a government minister. Convoys that were initially rare in the town have become common. In fact, warning signals from sirens no longer mean much to the population. What is however important is the level of awareness on the importance of the Agro-pastoral Show which the majority of the population will be seeing for the first time.
The mad rush to Ebolowa is certainly to ensure success. Officials of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing want to ensure that the entire infrastructure programmed for construction and rehabilitation to embellish the town is complete. The Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation on her part visited the Agric Show village to make sure the demonstration farms are in good condition especially as more care was needed after the postponement of the event.
Last Friday was the turn of the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma, who visited the exhibition ground and structures under his administration. His main concern was whether or not the set up for press coverage was complete. At the Agric Village, and particularly at the ceremonial ground where the Head of State will preside at the opening ceremony of show, the Minister, who was accompanied by his collaborators, reflected together to situate the reporting booth and a stand for the press. He equally visited the delegation of communication where the multi-media centre is located.
The Minister of Energy and Water Resources is particularly challenged with ensuring that water flows night and day while electricity shines in continuum in the night. Electricity cuts have not been programmed. In the same manner, CAMTEL technicians who are permanently at the site to ensure full supply of communication facilities after the installation of optical fibre. At the Agric Village, can equally be seen some exhibitors drawing up plans on how to position their products.
