Cameroon’s Prime Minister Philemon Yang received Hui Liangyu on wednesrday on arrival at the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport.

The visiting Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Hui Liangyu and members of his delegation started savouring Cameroon’s warmth and hospitality right from the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport yesterday, January 12. This was when his special plane touched down at the VIP Wing of the airport at 3:40pm.

Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Head of Government Philemon Yang received the Chinese Vice Premier on the foot of the plane. This was followed by hand shakes with some Cameroon government dignitaries. China’s Ambassador to Cameroon, Xue Jinwei led a delegation of Chinese officials to offer a bouquet of flowers and shake hands with their Vice Premier.

The Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport had visible signs of the excellent and growing Cameroon-China relations established on March 26, 1971. The flags of the two countries were flying high. The members of President Paul Biya’s ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) added splendour to the reception ceremony as besides celebrating excellent bilateral relations in song, they also waved the colours of the two countries.

Before taking off for the Yaounde Hilton Hotel, the Vice Premier, Hui Liangyu had a foretaste of discussions that have to constitute the main focus of his three-day visit. He had a brief moment of exchange with Cameroon’s Prime Minister Yang at the VIP lounge of the airport. After this, Hui Liangyu took off for Yaounde Hilton Hotel. The airport reception prepared the Chinese Vice Premier and members of his delegation for the discussions he later on had with Prime Minister Yang, expanded working session and the signing of cooperation agreements.

Le dispositif d’accueil était fin prêt hier après-midi à l’hôtel Hilton de Yaoundé, en attendant Hui Liangyu. Tapis rouge avec bouquets de fleurs sur le côté à l’entrée de l’hôtel, haie d’honneur, et, de l’autre côté de la route, les groupes d’animation. A 16h 22, le Premier ministre Philemon Yang arrive sur les lieux. Le ministre des Finances, Essimi Menye, l’a rejoint. Environ dix minutes plus tard, et l’hôte du jour est là. Le cortège s’est immobilisé et un passager souriant descend d’une limousine portant fanion chinois. La poignée de main avec Philemon Yang est chaleureuse, tandis que les flashes des photographes crépitent alentour.

Puis le Premier ministre camerounais accompagne l’illustre invité dans ses appartements. Entre-temps, après le ballet de véhicules observé à l’arrivée de Hui Liangyu, de nombreuses personnes, membres de la suite du vice-Premier ministre chinois, ont aussi fait leur entrée en scène. Quelques instants plus tard, le chef du gouvernement camerounais quitte les lieux. Hui Liangyu est bien installé. Les choses sérieuses ont commencé. Elles vont continuer. De toute façon, l’officiel chinois n’a pas tardé à ressortir de l’hôtel, pour aller rencontrer… le PM Yang.
