Speaking during the award ceremony, the president of the association of first division clubs, Faustin Domkeu, expressed gratitude to the executive committee of FECAFOOT for the efforts made towards the development of football in the country. He singled out the president of the Cameroon Football Federation, Iya Mohamed for praise, saying the award of the presidential prize to him during the last CAF awards ceremony on December 20, 2010 in Egypt, was sign of the great work his has been doing to promote football in Cameroon. He noted with joy that spectators were beginning to attend matches in their numbers as was reminiscent during the late 70s and early 80s, a phenomenon which is due to the positive contribution of the media that he hailed and urged to continue.
The president of FECAFOOT said no help should be turned down in this process of professionalising football and modernising its management. As such, he promised that promotional activities such as the partnerships with MTN and CAMRAIL will continue. He said clubs constitute a corner stone in the process and that the demands will be much with the eventual establishment of a professional league in the country. “History has made us to be pioneers in this process and together we will succeed”, he said. He urged clubs to put up quality performances in order to encourage the public to continue attending matches massively as has been witnessed recently. According to the team manager for Tiko United, Bisong Makia Thomas, the subvention is a good and timely gesture that will enable the club to solve its financial problems. A minute of silence was observed in memory of a FECAFOOT executive member, Mbu Taku Stephen who died recently.
