CPDM Revises Voter Registration Campaign Strategies

The Secretary General of the Central Committee  of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM), Rene Sadi , wants party officials in charge of the intensification campaign to boost registration into the electoral register to be faithful, loyal and forge ahead with work to ensure massive registration and vote for the party’s candidate in the 2011 presidential election. Rene Sadi chaired an evaluation meeting of the CPDM voter registration intensification campaign team at the Yaounde Conference Centre on Thursday, February 10.

Opening the meeting that later on continued behind close doors, the CPDM Central Committee scribe said they had to evaluate the path covered in the voters registration intensification campaign and take adequate measures to ensure success. He stated that at the end of the meeting, they would re-define new methods, adding that the first phase of the campaign was that of sensitisation and adaptation. Mr Sadi urged the party officials to focus henceforth on the registration of party supporters and other Cameroonians so as to ensure the victory of their candidate in the 2011 presidential election.

The Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee denounced internal conflicts, exclusion and called for tolerance and mutual understanding. “We are organising ourselves to have the CPDM candidate re-elected to the presidency”, Rene Sadi told party officials. He admitted that all was not perfect with the campaign to boost the registration of voters but said that on the bases of field reports, the importance and the interest of the campaign was understood.  Rene Sadi also lauded the recent measures President Paul Biya took to facilitate the acquisition of the National Identity Card, the necessary document for registration on the electoral register.

The Chairman of the CPDM voter registration campaign team for the Kupe Muanenguba Division, Minister Elvis Ngolle Ngolle in an interview after the meeting said, from reports given by the 10 regional commission team leaders, the campaign was promising. He said in all the 10 regions, the registration trends were positive; stating that should all go on well, the eight million voters Elections Cameroon has targeted ahead of this year’s presidential election will be attained.
