Parliament Officials To Better Manage Public Contracts

Public contracts in Cameroon’s National Assembly will henceforth be better awarded and their execution followed-up thanks to a three-day training staff in charge of the management of the public contracts received last February 8 to 10. Experts from the Public Contracts Regulatory Agency (ARMP) carried out the training on the theme, “National Procedures for the award and follow-up of public contracts.” The training was organized on the request of the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.

The Vice President of the National Assembly, Hon. Baoro Theophile, representing the House Speaker chaired both the opening and closing ceremonies of the training seminar. He said the knowledge acquired will enable Parliament to choose the best bidders for the execution of projects in the institution at the least cost and further improve the rate of the execution of the investment budget. Hon. Baoro Theophile enjoined the over 40 seminar participants to put into practice the knowledge acquired. The seminar participants received testimonials from the hands of the Director of the Department of Capmacity-building in ARMP, Dr Tchatat Hubert.

For three days, managers of public contracts in the National Assembly discussed and shared knowledge on the topics: Cameroon system on public contracts and the role of the different actors; the types and procedures for the award of public contracts; operations in the Contracts award Commission; constitution of files of the call for tenders; evaluation of offers; and programming of contracts. They also acquired skills on the control and follow-up of contracts execution and finally bad practices and repressive measures.
