The new Resident Representative of the African Development Bank (ADB) to Cameroon, Senegalese-born, Racine Kane, yesterday, February 16 presented the advanced copy of his letter of introduction to the Minister of External Relations, Henri Eyebe Ayissi. Before finally being appointed to the Cameroon Office of the ABD that also covers the Central African Republic, he had been the acting resident representative of the bank since, May 1, 2010.
Talking to the press after the audience with Minister Eyebe Ayissi, Racine Kane said he will continue working to improve the effectiveness of ABD cooperation with Cameroon. Focus will be on promoting projects to boost the private sector, promote dialogue and improve governance. He said one of the main pillars of the bank’s work in Cameroon is to improve on road infrastructure, water and energy supply. At the helm of the ABD in the country, Racine Kane disclosed, besides boosting infrastructure development, he would equally work to increase job creation. “We intend to make Cameroon a democratic and emerging country”, he concluded.

Prior to the audience with the new Resident Representative of the ADB, Minister Eyebe Ayissi also had discussions with the visiting delegation of the Francophonie University Agency “Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie” (AUF) led by its Secretary General, Wanda Diebolt. The AUF delegation is on a working mission and the leader disclosed after the audience behind close doors that they were working to boost cooperation in the higher education sector. Minister Eyebe Ayissi equally granted another audience to the Ambassador of Turkey to Cameroon, Atilay Ersan who came for a courtesy visit to discuss ways of fostering bilateral cooperation.
