A Douala-based student of Bangangte origin suddenly gave off the ghost after beating a cat to death at the New Bell neighbourhood last Monday. The cat said to be mysterious was presented the victim and his classmate some considerable distance from their Deido school campus by a man yet unknown. The Unknown pet bearer reportedly staked 10,000 Fcfa to be offered the student who succeeds in killing the cat. The deceased grabbed from the man a staff in which he repeated hit the cat on the head. Watching eagerly to see the profusely bleeding and rumbling cat dead, the deceased’s school friend was taken aback when his friend who beat the pet collapsed and began reeling in severe pain. Struggling to get hold of reeling friend, the pet owner disappeared. Being informed by the student, school administration rushing to ambulance the victim to hospital only reached the scene minutes after the victim had breathed his last. The deceased family later conveyed the corpse to a local hospital mortuary, while roasting the carcass to ashes on the spot. Last Friday’s conveyance of the corpse to its Casino-New Bell residence was marked by warnings, such as “Be careful of any animal, it is killing a cat that our brother died” uttered aloud by some family members amidst the funeral procession. Burial took place in Bangante over the week-end.
