A source at the Mokolo Police Station, where Nadine Christelle.N is under custody, said the incident happened on the night of February 18 at the Elig Effa neighbourhood. Nadine Christelle left school in Douala to meet the boy friend, Jean Jacques A.A. On her arrival, she met Jean Jacques with Carole Josiane F. A fight is said to have ensued between the rival girl friends and 21-year old Nadine removed razor blades from her bag and inflicted third degree cuts on Josiane F.A. The latter is said to have received cuts on the stomach, back and face.
The sources said if not for the timely intervention of security men, Nadine Christelle would have been lynched by the angry crowd that could not bear seeing the wounds that were inflicted on Carole Josiane. The wounded girl was rushed to the emergency unit of the Yaounde Central Hospital where reports say she is responding to treatment. Nadine Christelle on her part was taken to the Mokolo Police Station where she is still in custody.
Informed that her daughter was in police custody in Yaounde, Nadine’s mother could not believe her ears as she initially argued that her daughter was in school in Douala. When she finally met her in the police cell, she is said to have told the security men to give her the punishment she deserves. Her mother, who is said to be a medical doctor in Yaounde, is reported to have abandoned her at the police cell and went her way. She lamented that having spent more than FCFA 300,000 on the daughter’s tuition only for her to get involved in a fight over a boy friend, she deserved to face the full arm of the law.
Nadine Christelle is still in police custody while her rival, Carole Josiane is in hospital. Jean Jacques is said not to have been involved in the fight.
