Some 165 cartons of body lotions were distributed to 20 orphanages and associations that take care of vulnerable people yesterday, February 24 at the headquarters of the Pan-African NGO, African Synergy against AIDS and Suffering in Yaounde. The gifts which are from the Founding President of African Synergy, Mrs Chantal Biya, come after similar gestures as part of the First Lady’s untiring efforts to assist the underprivileged and needy people in the society.
One of the beneficiaries, the Founder of AGAPE Children’s Home at the Ekonou neighbourhood, Jonas John Adjei, expressed gratitude to the First Lady after receiving a gift from her for the first time. “This kind gesture from the First Lady is laudable and I pray she continues in the same spirit in helping the under-privileged in the society,” Jonas Adjei noted. The AGAPE Children’s Home takes care of orphans and the less-privileged in the society. Jonas Adjei hopes that the First Lady will also look into other needs of the centre which have to do with rehabilitation and feeding.
The 20 structures that benefited from the First Lady’s humanitarian from the Centre Region were identified by the Ministry of Social Affairs in collaboration with chiefs of social service centres in Yaounde.
