CERAC Offers Gifts To Donga Mantung Women

The occasion at Mbiyeh last Saturday saw the hand over of a renovated health centre, agricultural tools and health equipment. Last Saturday February 26 was a memorable day for the people of Mbiyeh village in the Donga Mantung Division of North West Region when the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC) extended its largesse to the community. It was at 10.15 am that traditional dancing and singing welcomed the representative of Mrs Chantal Biya and CERAC General Coordinator, Mrs Linda Yang, wife of the Prime Minister and Head of Government, to the Mbiyeh ceremonial ground. The event was the hand over of the renovated Mbiyeh Integrated Health Centre to the people.

CERAC was heralded for gifts of beds, mattresses, lamps, wheel barrows, wheel chairs for people with disabilities, foodstuff, corn mills, bags of fertilize, animal feed, hand carts or ‘trucks’, treated mosquito bed nets as well as funding the entire rehabilitation and equipment of the Mbiyeh Integrated Health Centre.

“Thank you Mama Chantal Biya for doing us good,” was the message on banners, in song and dance that set the tone for the event. The Social Democratic Front, SDF Mayor for Ndu, Nfor David Karngong thanked the First Lady for the generous gifts. “It requires abundance of kindness from the First Lady and Founding President of CERAC to consider the welfare of other men and women. CERAC has become the mother of mothers, the parent of orphans and the husband of widows. Mbiyeh and Donga Mantung people are favoured with the gifts that came when most needed. We pour our blessings so that the good works of the First Lady and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador can be felt in all corners of Cameroon,” he said.

Away from him, Kfukfu Felicia who spoke for the rural women hailed the gifts of food and farm tools which will enable them better feed their families and play a more significant role in nation building. Evelyne Adamu who spoke for the patients of the Health Centre joined the Mayor of Ndu in cheering the coming of the gifts because, “Mbiyeh and Ndu Subdivision will become healthier with improved health facilities and because when people are healthy, they work harder and longer in their farms.”

It was also a rare moment with special prayers by pastors for good health for the First Lady and Founding President of CERAC whom they said is resourceful and also a blessing to the needy. Governor Abakar Ahamat of the North West Region and the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Donga Mantung also accompanied the CERAC delegation to Mbiyeh.
