The Ambassador of Turkey to Cameroon, Atilay Ersan yesterday, March 2 in Yaounde, handed over the message of the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mehmet Ali Sahin to his counterpart of Cameroon’s National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril. This was during the audience Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril granted the Turkish diplomat who has been in Cameroon since 2009.
“The message is just to promote bilateral relations and of course to enhance relations at parliamentary level”, Atilay Ersan told journalists after the audience. He added that he will work to intensify relations in every field, stating that the relations were improving every day.
Cameroon-Turkey cooperation ties reached the summit in March 2010 when the President of Turkey, Abdullah Gul paid an official visit to Cameroon. The historic and sustainable aspect of the visit was the signing of two cooperation agreements. One agreement was on mutual visa exemption to facilitate the movement of diplomatic and important personalities between the two countries. The second was a protocol on technical, scientific and economic cooperation intended to boost relations. Turkey expressed the wish to create a cement factory, construct dams and invest in the agricultural sector in Cameroon, as well as award scholarships to Cameroon students to study in Turkey.
