He said that the Ayos community telecommunication centre would soon be connected to the national optical fibre grid to make it modern, urging the people to make optimum use of it. He said the advent of the centre was timely as it falls in line with the Head of State’s directives that Internet access be made available to more Cameroonians through the opening of such centres all over the country.
He described the centre as a big asset for development in remote areas. He said the strategic location of Ayos as a junction town for travellers from Chad, the Central African Republic and the Republic of Congo Brazzaville, would enable them stop over to communicate with their people back home. In response to the Mayor’s request that the management of the centre be handed over to his council, Minister Biyiti Bi Essam promised that it would be done, expressing hope that this will be done in a financially sustainable manner. He however cautioned the people to avoid using the services of the centre to promote crime and sexual immorality.
Earlier, the Mayor of Ayos, Amba Salla Patrice had lauded the commissioning of the centre, saying it would open up the locality to the world. The Ayos Multi-purpose Community Telecommunication Centre offers amongst others, Internet, phone, secretarial, research and television viewing facilities at reduced cost.
