Speaking to the press after the discussions, Jacques Boureima Ki said they was meeting for the first time since their election in November 2010 in Dakar Senegal. He said there were meeting in Yaounde to work on the budget, plan of action, status of the personnel and that of CONFEMEN, as well as to discuss the recommendations of the fourth ministers’ meeting. The key aspects of CONFEMEN’s plan of action, the Secretary General disclosed, include the programme to analyse the education sectors with the objective to help countries evaluate learning, school achievements and performance of the educational system. He stated that the organisation has a group of eight countries, including Cameroon that will benefit from the evaluation. The second aspect of the plan of action, concerned governance and consultation between member countries of CONFEMEN. The organisation also intends to intensify communication to make its activities visible and portray its contribution in the education policies of member countries.
The Vice President of CONFEMEN, Claude Landry from Canada, said his country was partnering with the organisation, stating that education specialists from Canada were working with those from CONFEMEN member States.
Prime Minister Philemon Yang in his welcome words at the meeting that later continued behind close doors, expressed the delight of the Cameroon government to host the CONFEMEN executive bureau meeting. While wishing the delegation members an enjoyable stay in Cameroon, he invited them to create time and do a bit of tourism to discover the potentials of the country. Cameroon’s Minister of Basic Education, Youssouf Adjidja Alim was part of the delegation to the Star Building.
