Away from that, metropolitan Bamenda is on its last cleaning exercise towards the National Day celebrations. The military have intensified rehearsals towards the event. They have been conspicuously improving and policing march past skills daily at the ceremonial ground since May 16, 2011. Political parties are virtually set to demonstrate strength in numbers. Mezam I, CPDM Section Vice President, Cletus Anye Matoya told Cameroon Tribune that they rounded up preparations at Section level on May 15, 2011 and mobilization has since been intensified at Sub section levels. Cletus Anye Matoya says the 39th National Day will be the last public show before the 2011 presidential elections and Mezam I CPDM militants are poised to show strength when they file out.
Away from the CPDM, the opposition SDF is turning full circle to grace the event. Lucas Ngu Afong, SDF Bamenda III District Chairman told Cameroon Tribune that Ward Chairmen and Councilors have latest 4 pm on May 18, 2011 to collect and distribute march past materials from the District Secretariat. Elsewhere, SDF Bamenda I District of the party scheduled their last preparatory meeting in the Bujong quarter on May 17, 2011. District Chairman, Achu Joseph says general mobilization, party uniforms and dance groups have been topical in preparations ahead of May 20. Weeklong activities in Bamenda also include human investment, a reunification walk, sports for disabled, cultural evening, torch light procession, quiz and a cross country race. At press time, Mezam Division with Governor Abakar Ahamat in the chair, were presenting papers at a round table conference with questions whether the North West was a problem or a solution to reunification. It was all about the journey towards reunification with the region told that they can only be remembered for what they built and not what they destroyed in 50 years.
