The much awaited finals of the European Champions League will take place tomorrow pitting two of the world’s most successful football clubs, F.C. Barcelona and Manchester United at the “home of football” at Wembley stadium, Hyde Park in London. Manchester United who have qualified for the finals three times in four years will be out to seek revenge against FC Barcelona in what football pundits refer to as a remake of the 2009 final when Barcelona carried the day on a 2-0 victory.

Since the historic final in Rome, much water has gone under the bridge. While Manchester United has lost highly skilled players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Tevez without replacing them, Barcelona has replaced playmaker, Samuel Eto’o Fils with David Villa considered as one of the finest strikers in the world and a host of other young players. There has also been the emergence of Lionel Messi as a formidable player.

However, Alex Fergusson is optimistic his team will have the upper hand in the epic final saying years of experience in European football has made Manchester mature. “You can be doing so well and in five minutes everything collapses”, he said adding that his players no longer panic when attacked repeatedly.

On the other hand, FC Barcelona has grown over the years to be considered today as the best football club in the world. The collective play style characterised by short passes can outsmart any team in the world. In order to avoid the experience last year when they had to travel to Italy by bus due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland, a journey which negatively affected the performance of the players, Barcelona arrived in England four days before the final and two days ahead of schedule, still running away from volcanic ash from Iceland. They have been fine tuning their training at the Arsenal playground ahead of the showdown tomorrow.
