Ayah Paul Abine
An ex-CPDM bigwig and outspoken MP, he is the candidate of the ‘People’s Action Party’ (PAP).
Ayah Paul Abine, 61, was the first candidate to submit his candidature for the 2011 presidential elections in the South West Regional Office of Elections Cameroon in Buea, on Saturday, 3 September 2011 at 11.35 am. He is member of Cameroon’s National Assembly who rose to Chair the Foreign Affairs Committee. Ayah Paul was born in Ngali-Akwaya Sub-division, Manyu Division of South West Region in 1950.
Before his parliamentary experience, he was a super scale judge in the Cameroon judiciary since 1978. He made known his presidential bid in January 2011 in Buea. He is the candidate of the People’s Action Party (PAP) created on 26 April 1991 by Victor Mukwelle Ngoh (now of late) with headquarters in Kumba, Meme Division of the South West Region.
Ayah, a second class traditional chief in his village, is married with children and has been very prominent in the news of recent when he openly criticized his former party, the CPDM that took him to parliament. He however resigned from the ruling CPDM party when things came to a head last January. He has styled his campaign slogan as “My vision of a born again Cameroon.”
Ayah writes columns for the press in Cameroon and has participated at forums and seminars on bio-safety, the dangers of frozen chicken and food security and as well as attended forums in the CEMAC zone, Uganda, Lesotho and Nairobi-Kenya.
He studied at the University of Yaounde and in the Advanced School of Magistracy, ENAM, Yaounde.
