Investigations of a 60-year-old man, Zike Sedi, are going on in Douala by gendarmes. He was accused of stealing a bottle of champagne in Douala on Sunday October 9 after the presidential elections. Six days after cooling his feet in a Bonanjo Gendarmerie cell, the 60-year-old man is said to have continued to deny the accusations.

Zike Sedi was whisked off from one of the bars in the neighbourhood when he could not explain why the bottle of drink, said to cost FCFA 15,000, should find itself fastened to his waist under his shirt from where it stood on the counter. The bottle of champagne reportedly disappeared from the shelf when the bar tender briefly left the counter.

A gendarmerie source revealed that they were forwarding the case to court for further investigations.
