Abandoned Babies: Minister Of Social Affairs Appeals For More Humane Treatment

The nine babies were abandoned within a period of two months across the country.

The Minister of Social Affairs, Catherine Bakang Mbock, has appealed to parents to offer more humane treatment to their children by investing in them, stating that doing so is also a way of investing in their future. In a release made public in Yaounde, the Minister notes that cases of abandoned babies are on the increase in the country with tens of them dumped each year.

Among the babies, all less than nine months, are six male and three female. They have been abandoned in Kousseri in the Far North Region, Nsam, Yaounde, Kribi in the South Region, Ahalla, Yaounde, Nkolfoulou, Yaounde, Garoua in the North Region, Central Hospital, Yaounde, and Soa near Yaounde.

For now, the babies’ nutrition, health and psychosocial needs are being taken care of by the Ministry of Social Affairs. Minister Bakang Mbock is therefore appealing to relatives of the abandoned babies to get in touch with her ministry located behind the old presidency, Yaounde, call 22222958/22230535 or write to Cette adresse email est protégée contre les robots des spammeurs, vous devez activer Javascript pour la voir. , to collect them.
