The body of Kemou Ignessa was on Friday October 14 pulled out of a neighbour’s well in Douala, 36 hours after she was reported missing. The two and half-year baby, who reportedly left her parents’ compound early Thursday October 13, went playing with other children around Shiko in Mabanda-Bonaberi in Douala.

She might have fallen into the unused well apparently unnoticed by her playmates who were unable to furnish the family with any reliable explanations. After a fruitless search for the little girl in the neighbourhood Thursday night, her parents reported the matter to the police the next day. But following Friday’s discovery of the baby’s corpse in the well, Ngodi-based Fire Fighters pulled it out and handed to the family for burial.
