P & T: Campost Improves Services Gradually

The structure will soon round up payments to customers who were affected by the restructuring of 2004.

Services rendered by the Cameroon Postal Services, Campost, despite competition from other structures have kept improving. Although Information and Communication Technology, IT have since facilitated the movement of information, the love for the letter through the post remains. This function of the post office has stood the test of time, and it has enabled Campost to overcome some challenges posed by the internet and fax.

The structure now boasts an interconnected modern network in all its offices to facilitate transfer and reception of mail and parcels. The 137th edition of the Global Postal Day was commemorated the world over on October 9 when Cameroonians went to the polls. Consequently, the celebration was shifted to October 18, culminating with an open day in Douala. The objective was to inform the public about Campost services: sending and receiving money within and out of the country, savings, and postal account for salary transfer.

Speaking on the theme of the day, “The post, an invaluable global public service,” an official of the Universal Postal Union in a message said at least 600,000 post offices worldwide are at the service of billions of customers everyday, handling over 438 billion letters and 6 billion parcels annually; in addition to other electronic, financial and logistic services.
