In a new episode in the ongoing crisis in Canon, the erstwhile Minister and University don, Joseph Owona, has resigned as president of the committee of wise people of the football club from Nkoldongo-Yaounde.

Though FIFA does not recognise this committee in its organisational chart, the decision to throw in the towel, was motivated by the in fighting within the most capped club in Cameroon. Professor Joseph Owona however noted in his resignation letter that he was supporting none of the belligerents. In another development, the Cameroon football federation has set up a committee to examine the crisis in Canon and propose a solution. The committee headed by Francis Mveng met yesterday and its decision at press time had not been made public.
