The five-day gathering brings together stakeholders to rob minds on the state of the environment in the country in the face of climate changes.
A national forum on the state of the environment in Cameroon opens at Yaounde’s Conference Centre today October 24.
Aimed at reviewing the state of the environment in the country in relation to climate change issues and how to mitigate their effects, the five-day forum that ends on Friday 28, it is expected to proffer solutions to local climate change issues like erratic rainfall, irregular seasons and the resultant poor crop yields; the advent of prolonged dry season diseases, and the damage done to infrastructure and the economy by floods and other natural disasters.
Participants at the forum are expected to come from both the public and private sectors. It is organised by the Ministry of Environment and Protection of Nature, MINEP.
