Burkina Faso Cycling Tour: Stallions in the Lead

The host country conserves the yellow jersey after the first three laps of the race.

Cyclists from the host nation are in the lead at the ongoing 25th edition of the cycling tour of Burkina Faso as they conserve the yellow jersey of the leader of the race after the first three laps run on October 21, 22 and 23 between Laye-Ouahigouya, Yako-Ziniare and Linonghin-Tenkodogo. Contrarily, Cameroonian cyclists who left with high spirits to revenge Burkina Faso’s victory at the last Tour of Cameroon are lost in the oblivion as they do not feature among the leading trio since the kick off of the race on Friday October 21.

The Cameroonian delegation made up of six cyclists from SNH Velo Club, namely; Damien Tekou, Herve Raoul Mba, Martinien Tega, Ledoux Guewa, Yves Ngue Ngock and Yannick Lontsi, left the country with the ambition to either equate or break the record of Sadrack Teguimaha, who is the only Cameroonian to have attained the second position in the Tour of Faso. However, their real hopes of making an impressive performance rely on the budding cycling star, Yves Ngue Ngock who the last edition of the Grand Prix International, Chantal Biya.

The race will run up to October 30 and comprises 10 laps over a distance of 1513 kilometres with the participation of professional European cyclists and some African amateurs from Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Mali, Gabon and Cameroon. Senegal and Sierra Leon desisted at the very last minute.
