Yaounde: Distribution Of Anti-cholera Stickers Underway

They are to be posted on taxi and public transport bus seats to sensitise passengers on preventing and handling cholera.

The Ministry of Public Health today October 26 as from 10 am in Yaounde continues distributing anti-cholera stickers to owners of taxi cabs and public transport buses.

According to a release signed Tuesday October 25 by the head of the ministry’s communication unit, Roger Mamoun, the stickers, three in number, contain specific messages on making water fit for consumption, the danger of consuming food sold in the streets and what to do in the face of cholera. The stickers shall be posted on the backs of vehicle seats for easy access by passengers. The posting exercise that began on Tuesday October 25, ends on Thursday October 27.

Known as “Community Response to Cholera in the Centre Region,” the project began in March this year with funding from the European Commission, CARE International and the government of Cameroon.

For most of last year, Cameroon faced an unprecedented cholera outbreak that affected most regions of the country. Only recently, health authorities in the Littoral Region reported new cases of the disease in the coastal city of Douala.
