A motorcyclist celebrating the SDF leader’s return to Bamenda after some days in Yaounde was knocked down by a motorist.

There was unease in the North West Regional capital, Bamenda late Wednesday October 26 afternoon after the return of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, leader, John Fru Ndi who had spent last week consulting with some opposition leaders in the capital, Yaounde.

According to Governor Abakar Ahamat speaking early Thursday October 27 morning on Cameroon Radio Television, CRTV radio, the incident happened when a motorist driving from the opposite direction inadvertently knocked down a motorcyclist in the convoy celebrating the homecoming of John Fru Ndi. In response, fellow motorcyclists set the vehicle ablaze as the driver fled. Governor said contrary to information going round in Bamenda, the injured motorcyclist has not died and is still receiving treatment in the Bamenda Regional Hospital.

In order to forestall any incident, security forces had been mobilized to ensure the safe return of Mr. Fru Ndi right to his home at Ntarinkon-Bamenda, the Governor said.
