Some 20 professors in medicine from the Paul Sabatier University of Toulouse III in France and Universite des Montagne are expected to evaluate the research work of the 29 students as members of various juries, and will announce the final results on November 4, 2011 in Bangante. Addressing the officials and students, Professor Lazare Kaptue said the defence was the first in Bangante, following an agreement signed with Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III in France on 17th January 2011 with the authorization of the Ministry of Higher Education for the two universities to supervise and endorse the academic work of medical students of the Université des Montagnes. He said professors of medicine from Universite Paul Sabatier have been in Bangante since 24th October and will only leave for France after the final results on 4th November 2011.

According to Prof. Kaptue, the last four batches of medical students from his institution defended their theses in the University of Yaoundé I. He said out of the 146 medical doctors who have so far graduated from the university, some 115 have been recruited into the public service. He said much emphasis is laid on humility and stressed that theses are important because experts take time to assess the academic work of young professionals whose performance in the field will no longer be judged by their lecturers, but by the population they will serve.
