North West: Ako/ Misaje Confirm Support For CPDM

The areas provided the best results for the CPDM in October 9 presidential elections in Donga Mantung Division.

The Ako/Misaje Special Constituency in Donga Mantung Division of North West Region has been celebrating victory in the October 9, 2011 presidential election in which the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM candidate, Paul Biya obtained its best results in the division. The collective efforts of the party’s campaign teams and supporters resulted in a score of 68 per cent for Candidate Paul Biya in Misaje Subdivision and about 59 per cent in Ako Subdivision.

From the look of things, the area confirmed its status as the stronghold of the ruling CPDM party in the North West alongside Balikumbat Special Constituency in Ngoketunjia Division. The party also boasts a CPDM Member of Parliament in the area and controls the councils of Misaje and Ako. It was thanks to the CPDM Party Chairman and President-elect Paul Biya that Ako/ Misaje got their first ever cabinet minister, Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry who is Secretary of State in the Ministry of Mines, Industries and Technological Development.

It is against this backdrop that the area has committed to count its blessings with the CPDM government. The October 9, 2011 presidential election was a good opportunity to show gratitude for their achievements. The campaign team led by Dr Gentry crisscrossed Dumbu, Misaje, Ako, Abongshie, etc with the message of the nation’s choice being Paul Biya. As at press time, news of CPDM supporters in Ako/Misaje Special Constituency continuing to celebrate their victory was still filtering in with the supporters saying President-elect Paul Biya is the answer to their problems.
