A multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, biologists, epidemiologists, HIV/AIDS programme managers and public health workers from Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Chad and Cameroon on Tuesday, November 1, began reinforcing their knowledge in interpreting data on HIV drug resistance.
Experts say there is an urgent need to implement standardized tools and method in the health system to help in the interpretation of antiretroviral (ARV) drug resistance in patients with insufficient history. By the end of the course, participants should be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills required to generate reliable data on the incidence and prevalence of drug resistance to existing and newly available ARVs.
