PROMOTE 2011: A Multitude Of Fora, Conferences

Besides exhibition in stands, Promote 2011 will also be an arena for theme-based conferences d round tables.

Promote 2011 International Trade Exhibition will be organised from December 3 to 11 with a focus on small and medium size-enterprises and the forging of partnerships. Inter-progress International Foundation, the main organiser of the event, announces the holding of several conferences wherein business executives from several public, private and foreign enterprises will, alongside business consultants and public officials, brainstorm on challenges and their possible solutions for the blossoming of small and medium-size enterprises.

To ensure success and affluence in the different conferences, Inter-progress will be co-organising alongside the Agency for the Promotion of Investments, API, that sees in the event an opportunity to seek ways of promoting Cameroon as an investment destination for both local and foreign businessmen.

According to the Director General of API, Marthe-Angeline Minja, six major conferences will be organised. The first to hold on December 5 will have as theme “Investment, Finance, Micro-Finance and Insurance.” SMEs will be edified on gaining access to sources of finance and identifying profitable investment sectors. On December 6, a Forum on Energy, Water and Environment (EEE Forum) will be organised by the Electricity Development Corporation, EDC, in partnership with the Agency of Development of Enterprises in Africa (ADEA), the Andritz Hydro Group and the Inter-progress Foundation. EDC sources say the organisation of the EEE Forum will promote businesses and institutions within the national, regional and international levels by raising issues relating to energy, water and environment. Hydro-electric energy and infrastructure will be discussed for their role in the development of the energy and water sectors in Africa as well as their impact on the environment. In focus will be the Sanaga River which will be presented as key resource to solutions of electricity and water problems. They also hold that renewable energy will equally be introduced in the debates along with financial aspects regarding energy and water projects.

A Forum on Public Works, Housing and Transports on December 7 will be followed by another Conference on Trade, Industry, Tourism and SMEs on December 8. On December 9, the Grand Hall of the Yaounde Conference Centre will host executives from organs operating in media, advertising, telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for a Forum on Communication. A Forum on Agriculture, Livestock and Forest will close the list of meetings on Saturday December 10. Organisers say the Promote Conferences will enable enterprises seize opportunities for exchanges, partnerships in an ideal location with over 1,000 enterprises from 30 countries and the 120,000 visitors awaited.
